Ikonic straight Pelham in rigid rubber.
The pelham is a rather hard bit, the hardness depending on the attachment point of the reins. Indeed, when the rein is attached to the large ring, the action of the bit is slightly uplifting. Used with the lower ring, the action of the bit is lowering, making it more powerful.
Straight bits are stable in the mouth and allow a firm contact of the horse with his bit.
A straight bit is generally softer than a jointed bit, as it only impacts on the tongue and not on the shafts.
