Seat Type

The choice of seat type may be important for some riders who would prefer more or less freedom of movement.
We offer you this choice so that your saddle is perfectly suited to your riding style.

Jump & All-Purpose

EXTRA-FLAT

Really low cantle for this jumping option, offering maximum freedom of movement for the rider.

For the saddles of the “Elite” range, no carbon plate is included at the cantle with this seat option.

FLAT

The jumping flat seat is assembled with a “lying” cantle.

That is to say, a cantle whose angle will tend to give more freedom of movement to the riders.

HALF-DEEP

The half-deep seat is the most standard jumping option, offering a balanced combination of support and freedom of movement.

Its slightly deeper shape provides a more secure and supportive feeling for the rider without restricting mobility.

Dressage

HALF-DEEP

The half-deep seat offers the same balanced feeling as the deep seat, but with a less restrictive shape.

Its slightly lower and more inclined cantle provides greater freedom of movement while maintaining good rider support and balance.

DEEP

The deep seat is the most traditional and commonly used option in dressage.

Its relatively straight cantle provides a secure and well-supported position, helping the rider stay correctly centred in the saddle.

Flap Size

Flap size and angle are designed to adapt the saddle to the rider’s morphology, leg length, and riding style. Different combinations help provide a more natural position, improved comfort, and better balance in the saddle.

All size indications and available options are based on the standard flap as the reference point.

The pictures and measurements provided are mainly intended to help understand the different options and proportions. Dimensions shown in the pictograms are approximate and for indicative purposes only. Slight differences may appear on the final saddle depending on the model and configuration.

Flap Standard

This flap is suitable for the majority of riders and riding styles. Its balanced length and angle provide a natural position and good overall comfort, making it the most versatile and commonly used option.

Forward Flap

Designed for riders who ride with shorter stirrups or have a longer femur, this flap features a more forward cut to better accommodate the leg position. Especially on jumping saddles, it helps prevent the knee from extending beyond the flap while maintaining comfort and balance.

Extra-straight Flap

Designed exclusively for dressage saddles, this flap features a straighter cut to increase rider support and stability. It is especially suitable for riders looking for a more framed and secure leg position with enhanced support in the saddle.

Short Flap

Designed for riders with shorter legs or those looking for a more compact flap length. This option helps maintain a natural leg position and improved contact without excess flap length.

Short Forward Flap

Designed for riders who ride with shorter stirrups or have a longer femur, while requiring a shorter flap overall. Its more forward cut helps maintain proper leg position and balance, especially on jumping saddles, without excess flap length.

Short Extra-straight Flap

Designed for dressage riders looking for increased support with a straighter flap, while maintaining a shorter overall length. This option is particularly suitable for riders with shorter legs who still want a stable and well-framed position in the saddle.

Long Flap

Designed for riders with longer legs or taller riding boots who require additional flap length for improved comfort and positioning. This option helps maintain a natural leg position while preventing the top of the boot from interfering with the lower part of the flap.

Long Forward Flap

Designed for riders who ride with shorter stirrups or have a longer femur, while requiring additional flap length. Its more forward and longer cut helps maintain a balanced leg position and increased comfort, especially on jumping saddles, helping prevent the top of the boot from interfering with the lower part of the flap.

Long Extra-straight Flap

Designed for dressage riders with longer legs who are looking for maximum support and stability. Its straighter and longer cut helps create a more framed leg position while maintaining comfort and balance in the saddle.

Blocks

Block options allow the saddle to be adapted to the rider’s preferences in terms of support, freedom of movement, and leg stability.

You can choose a saddle without blocks, or select from different shapes and sizes depending on the level of support desired. Larger blocks generally provide increased security and can help maintain a more stable leg position.

Depending on the selected option, blocks may vary in height, length, width, and overall shape. Illustrations are provided for indicative purposes only to help understand the different configurations and may not exactly reflect the final product depending on the saddle model and setup.

Jump & All-Purpose

EXTRA LARGE BLOCK

The Extra-Large blocks feature a more rounded shape, offering maximum support and stability.

On full leather saddles, the front flap is pre-shaped around the block to create the necessary space and provide a naturally moulded feeling from the very first rides.

MEDIUM BLOCK

This is the most versatile and commonly used block option, designed to suit the majority of riders and riding styles.

LARGE BLOCK

This larger block option provides increased leg support.

The dimensions increase by approximately 10 to 15 mm depending on the model and block shape, including height, width, and length.

VELCRO BLOCK

Designed to offer maximum flexibility, Velcro blocks can easily be repositioned or exchanged over time depending on the rider’s preferences and needs.

For saddle models where fixed blocks normally include a pre-shaped kneepad, the flap remains flat with the Velcro option to allow full adjustability of the block position.

WITHOUT BLOCK

Designed for riders looking for maximum close contact and freedom of movement, without additional leg support from blocks. The block area is fully integrated into the flap for a cleaner and more direct feeling with the horse.

Dressage

Dressage knee blocks are available in different shapes and sizes to adapt the level of support, stability, and rider feeling in the saddle. Depending on the selected option, blocks may vary in height, length, width, shape, and positioning according to the saddle model and range.

The illustrations and dimensions shown are provided for indicative purposes only to help understand the available configurations. Actual proportions and shapes may differ depending on the saddle construction, including mono flap and double flap models.

A manufacturing tolerance of approximately +/- 15 mm may also apply to the indicated dimensions depending on the model.

Available options  include Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large, and Velcro knee blocks on selected double flap models.

SMALL SIZE

Compact dressage knee block designed for riders looking for light support and increased freedom of movement.

Approximate length: 170 mm*

*Dimensions are indicative only and may vary depending on the saddle model and construction.

MEDIUM SIZE

The most versatile and commonly used dressage knee block size, offering balanced support and stability for the majority of riders.

Approximate length: 200 mm*

*Dimensions are indicative only and may vary depending on the saddle model and construction.

EXTRA LARGE SIZE

Dressage knee block designed to offer maximum support and stability with a highly framed leg position.

Approximate length: 280 mm*

*Dimensions are indicative only and may vary depending on the saddle model and construction.

LARGE SIZE

Dressage knee block designed to provide increased support and stability for riders looking for a more framed leg position.

Approximate length: 240 mm*

*Dimensions are indicative only and may vary depending on the saddle model and construction.

Velcro

Designed to offer maximum flexibility, the Velcro option allows knee blocks to be easily repositioned or exchanged over time according to the rider’s preferences and needs.

Available on double flap saddle models only.

Without

Designed for riders looking for maximum freedom of movement and a very close contact feeling without additional knee support.

For this option, double flap saddles are supplied without knee blocks but with the Velcro already installed, allowing blocks to be added later if desired.

Panels

Every horse has a unique morphology, which is why Ikonic offers different panel constructions, thicknesses, and shaping options to help achieve the most accurate fit possible.

From panel type and thickness to shoulder clearance and drop options, these configurations are designed to give saddle fitters maximum flexibility in adapting the saddle to the horse’s back, movement, and balance.

Combined with adjustable natural wool flocking and interchangeable gullets, these options allow the saddle to be fine-tuned for optimal comfort, stability, and freedom of movement for the horse.

Thickness

THIN PANELS

Flat panels are generally used for large and round horses having a low wither. The alloy of the panel's choice, the padding and the size of the arch allow the saddle to be adjusted perfectly.

STANDARD PANELS

Standard panels are those that are suitable in the majority of cases.

THICK PANELS

“Thick” panels may be suitable in some cases for some horses that really need them, at the discretion of the “Saddle Fitter”.

Shoulder Cut

With Shoulder Cut

The “Shoulder clearance” allows greater freedom of movement for the horse. It consists of a front space in the saddle panel, designed to be thinner, promoting mobility and comfort for the horse.

Its usefulness depends on the specific morphology of each horse and is not always necessary.

Without Shoulder Cut

The most standard and versatile panel option, suitable for the majority of horse morphologies.

Drop

With Drop

Panels with drop feature additional thickness in the central part of the panel, around the hollow behind the withers. This option is particularly useful for horses with very prominent withers and a marked topline hollow.

When correctly used, it helps improve saddle balance and contact with the horse’s back. However, if used unnecessarily, the extra thickness may create a more separated and less comfortable feeling for the rider. This option should therefore only be selected when recommended by a saddle fitter.

Without Drop

The most standard and versatile panel option, suitable for the majority of horse morphologies without a pronounced hollow behind the withers. It provides a close and natural feeling between horse and rider while maintaining balanced pressure distribution.

Type

Sock Flex

SoftFlex panels combine traditional wool flocking with an integrated foam structure designed to provide lasting flexibility and comfort.

Like the WoolSense construction, a soft layer is positioned on the horse side of the panel to improve first-contact feeling and pressure distribution. In the rear part of the panel, a dedicated foam insert defines the panel thickness and shape depending on the selected option (Standard, Thin, etc.).

This construction creates a soft and flexible rear support while maintaining the possibility to adjust the panel through the wool flocking in the main contact areas.

Wool Sense

WoolSense panels are built with a traditional 100% wool flocking construction, offering maximum adjustability and precision fitting over time.

To improve first-contact comfort and maintain a more consistent pressure distribution, a thin latex foam layer has been integrated between the wool flocking and the horse side of the panel. This additional layer brings a softer and more flexible initial feeling while helping to smooth and stabilise the natural behaviour of wool inside the panel.

Felt Fit

FeltFit panels are based on a traditional saddlery construction combining a soft felt layer with 100% natural wool flocking.

Unlike foam-based panel constructions, FeltFit panels contain no foam at all. This allows the panel to mould more naturally and closely to the horse’s back over time while remaining fully adjustable thanks to the wool flocking.

This construction provides a very traditional feeling with excellent adaptability, close contact, and natural pressure distribution.
